What we do

One partner for every Kreyòl and French language need.

Healthcare interpreting

Doctor visits, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, mental-health and home-care appointments. Interpreters trained in medical terminology and patient privacy.

Schools & families

Parent-teacher conferences, IEP and 504 meetings, enrollment, and calls home so Haitian parents fully take part in their children's education.

Social & community services

Housing, benefits, shelters, resettlement agencies, workforce programs and nonprofits serving Haitian communities.

Legal & immigration appointments

Attorney meetings, legal-aid clinics and immigration paperwork appointments. Court proceedings are assigned only to interpreters who meet that court's certification rules.

Kreyòl customer support for businesses

Bilingual support agents and phone interpreting for banks, money-transfer companies, insurers, utilities and stores with Haitian customers.

Document translation

Letters, forms, notices, discharge instructions, school documents and certificates translated between Kreyòl, French and English, reviewed by a second linguist.

Three ways to connect

Haitian Creole ⇄ English · Haitian Creole ⇄ French · French ⇄ English. Spanish and Portuguese on request.

On-site

An interpreter comes to your location. Ideal for sensitive or long appointments.

Over the phone

Scheduled phone interpreting anywhere in the USA and Canada.

Video (VRI)

Face-to-face interpreting over Zoom, Teams or your telehealth platform.

We NEVER charge interpreters to apply, to join or to receive work.

Work with us as an interpreter

  • Healthcare clients can sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with us.
  • Language skills are tested before an interpreter receives work.
  • We never share client or patient information outside the assignment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an interpreter cost?

It depends on the mode, length, location and notice. Send a request and we reply with a written quote before anything is booked. You pay nothing until you approve it.

How far in advance should I book?

On-site: at least 2 business days when possible. Phone and video: often the same or next day. Tell us if it is urgent.

Are your interpreters certified?

All are screened and tested. Many have completed 40-hour healthcare interpreter training, and we tell you each interpreter's credentials before the assignment.

Do interpreters pay to join?

No. Never. If anyone asks you for money in the name of LAKAY AGENCY, it is not us. Report it to us.

Are interpreters employees?

Interpreters work as independent contractors under a written agreement that explains the rate, payment schedule and rules before any work.
